History

The FCCF was born right here in the Upstate.

The Beginning

This is how it started.

A group of local leaders started several discussions on how to improve the lives of our residents and support the local businesses. In 2013, they invited the West Carolina Rural Telephone Cooperative to help devise a plan for the creation of a foundation for supporting economic development. The 501(c)(3) organization was formed under the name Freshwater Coast Community Foundation, which included Abbeville County, McCormick County and Starr-Iva area of Anderson.

The mission is to support Entrepreneurial, Educational and Cultural development

Where We Are Headed

Big dreams, big plans.

We will focus on the dissemination of information by means of working with 4-H leadership programs, FFA, FBLA, community development teams, municipalities, chambers of commerce, high schools, middle schools, state and local representatives, business leaders, local businesses, local universities and colleges to put in place entrepreneurial development programs that foment business expansion and retention.

Exploration of a continuing education program that integrates innovation and entrepreneurial learning.

Entrepreneurship

Our region is ripe for business development. Whether someone wants to launch an agribusiness
or establish a base for an e-commerce website, we are here to help.

Education

The education systems of today produce the workforce and entrepreneurs of tomorrow. We are chartered to make investments to improve our schools and our educational processes.

The Arts

Cultural enrichments enhance the quality of life in our region. We may aim to enhance our collective bottom line, but investments in the arts will cultivate a vibrant imagination among our people.
