The Freshwater Coast Community Foundation is a joint effort from a broad cross section of community members. Here are several of the individuals behind the effort.

Brad Evans, Chairman/Charter Board Member

Brad Evans, returned to his hometown of Abbeville, SC in 2003 and purchased Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Mr. Evans has been working in the funeral profession for 27 years. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the South Carolina Funeral Directors Association, Abbeville Area Medical Center Foundation, and the Long Cane Cemetery Association. Over his career he has been actively involved in the civic groups and with economic development in the communities he has lived in. Brad, his wife Abby, and their two children, Gage and Bella reside in Abbeville.

Lee Logan, Executive Director/Secretary/Charter Board Member

A long-time pillar of the Upstate community, Lee was raised in Spartanburg, SC. He served as Vice President for Development at Erskine College for 33 years, but Lee has been anything but idle in his golden years. His post-education resume spans numerous positions in local politics, philanthropy and business.

Aimee Gray, Board Member

Aimee Gray graduated from Clemson University with a degree in technical marketing and a minor in computer science. She taught entrepreneurship at Crescent High School for 13 years. For the past five years, she has served as the chief information officer for Anderson School District 3. She also serves on the board of West Carolina Tel (WCTEL) and the Upcountry Fiber Foundation. Aimee and her husband, Cade, have three children, Landon, 23, Ivey, 20, and Caroline, 14. 

Paul L. Agnew, Charter Board Member

Paul Agnew of Abbeville County is an attorney. He represented District 11 in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2005-2012. As a graduate of Erskine College and the University of South Carolina School of Law, Paul has been a practicing attorney for more than 20 years. Agnew currently serves as President of the Abbeville County Bar Association and is a founding member of the FCCF Board of Directors.

Faye Crocker, Board Member

Faye has served as the CEO of HopeSouth since 1988. She has a background in banking and financial management. Faye has a long history of service to numerous boards for nonprofit organizations such as the Lake Russell Recreation & Tourism Coalition (President), Abbeville County United Way Campaign (Chairperson), and Abbeville Rotary Club (Treasurer, President).

Andy is the President / CEO of Abbeville First Bank, a community mutual bank serving Abbeville and the surrounding areas since 1907. Abbeville First specializes in assisting in home ownership and in the creation and expansion of small businesses in our community.

Wes McAllister, Vice-Chairman/Charter Board Member

A lifelong resident of Mount Carmel, McAllister graduated from Erskine College in 1989. McAllister is self-employed with McAllister’s Home Furnishings and various family agribusinesses. He has been active in local, regional and statewide organizations dedicated to rural service in cattle, forestry, education and economic development services. He is currently the Board President for West Carolina Tel (WCTEL). He and his wife Angel have been married 24 years. They have a son, Jake, who is a junior at Clemson University. They are members of Rice Memorial Baptist Church.

Jeff Wilson, Charter Board Member

Jeff Wilson joined West Carolina Rural Telephone Cooperative (WCTEL) in April 2013. Mr. Wilson has more than 45 years of experience in the telecom industry, Piedmont Technical College Foundation and the South Carolina Telecommunications Broadband Association. Over his career he has been actively involved in civic groups and with economic development in the communities he has lived in. Jeff and his wife Sandy reside in Abbeville.

Kirk Smith, Board Member

Amos Cunningham, Board Member

Amos Cunningham graduated from Dixie High School and went on to Benedict College where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Art Education. After 31 years at Michelin Tire Manufacturing Company, he retired as a Group Leader. His current business interests include owning and operating Cunningham Landscaping and Clearing, LLC and Cunningham Gem and Mineral Prospects. He is the Coordinator of Events for the Upper Abbeville Gem and Mineral Club and is known throughout our region as an expert on local gems and minerals. Amos’s dedication to his community has led him to serve in many different ways, including, past Master of the Due West Masonic Lodge 100, Dixie High School Foundation Board Member, past President of the Due West Lions Club, Vice Chair of the Springfield Baptist Church Deacon Board and head of Music Ministry, and Vice Chair of the Little River Baptist Association Grounds Committee.

Betty Cowan, Board Member

Betty Cowan, Abbeville County Treasurer, elected for her first term in 2015, is currently serving her third term in office. She is a graduate of Abbeville High School and is from the Old Hodges Road section of Abbeville County. After Abbeville High School, she attended and graduated from Savannah State University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Banking, then went on to attain her Master in Business Administration from Phoenix University. She is a member of the African American Episcopal Church, member of the Government Finance Officers Association of South Carolina and the United States, and the National Association of Counties.

Lena Wood, Board Member

Lena is the HR Compensation and Analytics Director for DLH Holdings Corporation, a federal contracting company serving the Veterans Administration, National Institutes of Health, and CDC. Lena has held positions in business/program management and human resources for a variety of large and small businesses for more than 30 years. She is happy to be back in her hometown of Calhoun Falls with her husband, Mark.

David Garner, Advisory Board Member

LaTonya Leverette, Advisory Board Member

LaTonya is the Center Coordinator at Greenwood Head Start. She retired from the State of South Carolina in 2019 after 28 years of service. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Sorority Inc., Finding Me, and Youth Minister at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in McCormick. She is the author of the book, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”. She is also a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a B.A. degree in Political Science. She continued her education at Troy University where she received her Master’s degree in Education, and continued to Concord Law School where she earned her Executive Juris Doctorate.
